First Bell 429 to be utilised for powerline patrol in Europe, in service with National Grid UK at Helitech Exhibition. September 2013.

 

Ian Frain, founder of Helian, has over 20 years of experience in the rotor-aviation industry. His qualifications include Bsc Engineering (specializing in aerospace and mechanical engineering) from University of Hertfordshire, and Human Factors in Aircraft Maintenance course. During his time in the industry he has gained experience in a variety of areas including; MRO for an Airline Line Maintenance station, in store and purchasing for a company dealing with Eurocopter and Sikorsky variants, analysing operators for commercial viability, completing regulatory certificates, quality control, auditing, researching and analysing maintenance data, and producing aviation information software.
Completed projects include: American Helicopter Society: Looking at the Scott Bell 47 on the return to manufacturing of this classic helicopter. (publ. in Vertiflite 2013) Evaluation of the Marenco Swiss Helicopter. (publ. in Vertiflite 2013)
